[01] ELECTRICITY - PURCHASE - COSTElectricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has issued a cheque for 4,5 million euro that was handed to Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) last week for the power supply from the occupied areas, following the destruction of Vassiliko Power Plant, after the blast at the naval base on July 11th.Arrangements for power supply from the occupied areas were made so as not to entail the upgrading of the illegal Turkish Cypriot regime, since the issue concerns a private initiative by CCCI to buy electricity and re-sell it to the Electricity Authority of Cyprus. Deputy EAC Spokesman Yiannis Tsouloftas told CNA on Wednesday that the cheque was handed over to CCCI Chairman Manthros Mavromatis and that our understanding is that he was to give it to the suppliers the following day. He added that our agreement with CCCI ends in August and we have discussed the possibility of further renewal, however so far nothing has been signed.
