[01] PRESIDENT 2009 ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS
President of the Republic Demetris Christofias delivered today the 2009
Environmental Awards for Enterprises during a ceremony in Nicosia.
The 1st Prize for Environmental Management was awarded to Animalia
Genetics LTD, Pig Genetic Company, and the 1st Product or Service Prize
to ZX Fami LTD, a company manufactures cosmetics and detergents.
Awards were also awarded to Sunwing Resort Sandy Bay (2nd Prize for
Environmental Management), Water Museum of the Water Board of Limassol
(2nd Product or Service Prize), I.P Gaia Oinotechniki Ltd, a regional
winery which operates at Ayios Amvrosios village, Limassol District
(3rd Product or Service Prize) and to the Sewerage System of Limassol
Amathus (2nd Technology or Production Prize).
Speaking during the ceremony, President Christofias underlined that the
effort to protect the environment is an issue that concerns everybody,
the state, the country, the society.
At the same time he pointed out that developing policies for
sustainable development for satisfying the real social needs but also
for maintaining balances in nature, not only for the current generation
but also for the future ones, constitutes one of the basic provisions
of Governments planning and added that in order to fulfil this
ambitious goal, the Government implements important measures with
successful results.
