Cyprus Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou has sent the message that if Turkey will not comply with its EU conditions and obligations, it will have repercussions and consequences on its accession process. He clarified however, that this does not mean to close the EU door to Turkey, but it does mean sanctions on its accession course.

Speaking at a breakfast policy briefing titled ``December 2009 and EU-Turkey relations``, organised by the European Policy Centre, Kyprianou stressed that Turkey has not yet fulfilled its obligations towards Cyprus, it has not recognised the Republic of Cyprus, and most importantly, it has not contributed, so far to the efforts for a solution to the Cyprus problem.

``December will be a test both for Turkey and the EU,`` Kyprianou said noting that on one hand Turkey will have the opportunity to show good will by fulfilling its EU obligations, and on the other hand for the EU to show that it treats all candidate countries equally.

Cyprus Foreign Minister pointed out that Turkey has failed to comply with all its obligations towards the Republic of Cyprus, as derive by the Ankara Protocol, and this has been repeatedly mentioned in the progress reports of the European Commission, including the latest published earlier this month
