The rebuilding of Artemida community in Greece, which was badly hit during last summers catastrophic forest fires, will be concluded on May 2009. The major project, which includes the complete rebuilding of the destroyed houses, has begun three days ago. In addition, in a few days time, the works for the reconstruction of the village main square will begin. These works are estimated to be concluded by early autumn.

Speaking after a meeting of the Cyprus ministerial committee for the rebuilding of Artemida, Minister of the Interior Neoklis Sylikiotis, reassured that the rebuilding of Artemida will be concluded within the time frames.

Sylikiotis also noted that the cost of rebuilding the Greek village is estimated to reach 10.2 million euro. The Republic of Cyprus has also compensated with 3.3 million euro, the farmers and the stock breeders, for their losses. Sylikiotis will visit Artemida next autumn.
