[01] CYPRUS - GREECE - WATER
Cyprus and Greece have signed an agreement providing for the
transportation of eight million cubic meters of water to Cyprus, which
this year is facing a serious problem of water shortage.
The agreement was signed in Athens by Cypriot Minister of Agriculture,
Natural Resources and the Environment Michalis Polynikis and Greek
Minister of the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works Giorgos
Souflias.
In statements to the press after the signing ceremony, the Cypriot
Minister expressed the gratitude of the Cypriot President, the
government and the people of Cyprus towards Greece for responding
immediately to ease the problem.
