[01] CYPRUS - LEBANON - SEMINARThe importance of the geographical position of Cyprus in Southeastern Europe was stressed at a Lebanon Crisis Seminar, organised by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Thursday in Nicosia.The seminar, which was held with the participation of around 50 representatives of crisis management teams from EU member states and representatives of the European Commission, aims at developing further the discussion about enhancing the EUs emergency and crisis response capabilities, as well as cooperation and coordination between partners in times of crises, so that a number of relevant policies are identified, mapped out and further developed. In his speech, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus Ambassador Alexandros Zenon said that Cyprus helped in the Lebanon crisis in numerous different ways, ranging from offering logistical assistance, accommodation and shelter to providing food, transportation, medical care and welfare aid. [02] CoE - HUMAN TRAFFICKINGDeputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maud de Boer Buquicchio urged on Thursday CoE member states to ratify the Council`s Convention on action against trafficking of human beings, that would give the member states a ``pioneering treaty`` in combating human trafficking.The CoE in collaboration with the Cypriot Ministry of the Interior opened a two-day seminar on action against trafficking human beings with the participation of 150 persons, including penal code experts, representatives of Non Governmental Organisations from various CoE member states, and CoE experts. Addressing the opening session of the seminar, Cypriot Minister of the Interior Neoklis Sylikiotis called for a global effort to combat human trafficking, which he described as a ``global phenomenon``, reiterating Cyprus` commitment to combat this ``humiliation of human dignity.`` [03] CoE - LOIZIDOU CASEThe Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe is still waiting for clear indications as regards the implementation of a European Court of Human Rights judgment relating to the case Greek Cypriot Titina Loizidou won against Ankara for violation of human rights.This was said here on Thursday by Deputy Secretary General of the CoE Maud de Boer Buquicchio, adding that a relevant discussion took place two days ago as regards the decision of the ECHR in Cyprus` Fourth Interstate Appeal against Turkey, by which Turkey was deemed responsible and accountable for a series of violations of the European Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms Convention, as well as the Loizidou case. On the interstate case the decision was to come back to this at a later stage, on the Loizidou case there was a reference to what was happening and what Cyprus can expect, what Ms Loizidou can expect in terms of reaction to her original claim to access to her property, she said.
