[01] LOCAL ELECTIONS - CHIEF RETURNING OFFICER
ิhe final results for the new mayors and community leaders are expected
to be announced around 2200 local time, said Sunday Chief Returning
Officer Lazaros Savides, speaking after polls closed in today`s
municipal elections.
Savides thanked his associates, the Police and all those who have
worked for the elections.
I am certain that the counting of votes will be completed without any
problems so that we can have prompt results, Savides added.
He announced the percentage of those who voted per district: Nicosia
82%, Limassol 86%, Famagusta 87%, Larnaca 84% and Paphos 86%.
He also said that the first results from small communities are already
posted on the election website and the procedure is expected to be
completed around ten local time (2000 GMT).
