[01] HOUSE PRESIDENT - TURKEY - EUCypriot House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias said here Wednesday that there should be no trade-off between Turkey`s obligations to the EU and the EU Commission`s regulations on direct trade with the Turkish Cypriot community.Christofias was commenting on press reports that the EU Finnish Presidency is working on a proposal envisaging that the fenced-off area of Famagusta should be put under UN administration, in return for the opening of port of the occupied city under EU administration and the opening of Turkish ports for Cypriot ships. ``I would consider this as a violation of the principles of the EU,`` Christofias said during a press conference. Christofias also spoke of a ``warm Autumn or Winter`` regarding the issues concerning relations between Turkey and Greece, noting that ``we will have developments which will be difficult.`` [02] HOUSE - REVIEWCypriot House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias expressed here Wednesday satisfaction over the House`s work during the 5th and 6th parliamentary sessions.During these two sessions, the House Committees convened in 544 meetings and forwarded to the House Plenary 222 bills, 33 draft proposals and 174 regulations. ``Both the 5th and 6th parliamentary sessions have been productive in all fields of action of the Cyprus Parliament,`` Christofias said, adding that ``in all fields, the House worked hard, with consistency and effectiveness.`` [03] IRISH PRESIDENT - CYPRUSIrish President Mary McAleese arrives in Cyprus on October 9 for a two-day official visit, at the invitation of Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos, Government Spokesman Christodoulos Pashiardis announced here Wednesday.Mcaleese, accompanied by her husband, Irish Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, as well as 14-member delegation, will have a series of contacts with the Cypriot President and government officials.
