[01] CYPRUS - GREEK BASKETBALL TEAMCypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos and House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias have congratulated the Greek national basketball team for its victory over the US team.President Papadopoulos said in statements ``bravo`` to the members of the team and wished the best for them. Christofias sent a message today to Greek Parliament Speaker Anna Psarouda Benakis, expressing his congratulations for the Greek team`s victory. He also wished the national team would win the finals. [02] ROLOGIS RESIGNSThe Bank of Cyprus Group has announced that the Chairman of the Board of Directors Vassilis Rologis has today sent a letter to the Board of Directors with which he announces his decision to resign from his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Cyprus Group.According to a Bank of Cyprus press release, Rologis` letter of resignation will be put before the Board of Directors at their next meeting which is scheduled for September 7. In a written statement, Rologis says ``the decision is mine personally and has to do with the interests of the Group and its shareholders, who I will continue to serve from the position of member of the Board of Directors.`` [03] PAPHOS - FESTIVALOne of the worlds most renowned opera houses, the State Academic Mariinsky Theatre, staged on Friday night Giuseppe Verdi`s "Un ballo in maschera", on the opening night of the 8th Pafos Aphrodite Festival.Congratulations and praise for what promises to offer in the next two days a spectacle rarely enjoyed by opera lovers on the island, flowed in abundance. The opera combines elements reminiscent of a Shakespearean play where tragedy and comedy intertwine. Welcoming this wonderful cultural event to Cyprus, President Tassos Papadopoulos said the Pafos Festival is a very important institution in the cultural calendar of the country, recognised as an outstanding artistic event that honours its home town and Cyprus at large.
