    Memorial services were held in Cyprus and Greece for the 121 victims of last years air tragedy, when an Helios Airways Boeing crashed near Athens.

    Most of the victims on board the HELIOS flight to Athens were Cypriots, some foreign nationals, there were 22 children and six crew members.

    Around 190 relatives of the victims went to Athens for the first annual memorial service at the site of the crash in Grammatiko, Greece.

    [02] PAPADOPOULOS - AIR CRASH INVESTIGATIONS

    Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos said that investigations into the cause of the air tragedy that hit Cyprus a year ago, should be carried out with legality and order, otherwise their findings will not be valid.

    Speaking after Sundays memorial service in Paralimni, home of 12 of the victims, President Papadopoulos said as it has been already been pledged from the first day of the air crash, the case will be investigated in depth, responsibilities will be detected where there are and attributed to those to whom they belong.

    [03] TURKISH INVASION - 32 YEARS

    Thirty-two years have elapsed since the second phase of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus which resulted to the occupation of the towns of Famagusta, in the east, and Morphou, in the west.

    Turkish troops have been occupying 37 per cent of Cyprus territory since 1974. Turkey has ignored numerous UN resolutions calling for the withdrawal of its troops from Cyprus, a member of the United Nations and the European Union.

    [04] EU COMMISSIONER - CYPRUS - LEBANON - ISRAEL

    European Union Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid Louis Michel will stop over in Cyprus on his way to Lebanon and Israel.

    He will arrive at Larnaca airport this afternoon and will immediately board a French military helicopter, that will carry him to Beirut.

    On Wednesday, the EU Commissioner will return to Larnaca. The same night, Commissioner Michel will depart for Tel Aviv.
