    Cypriot Flight Lieutenant Andreas Papasozomenos, who was killed when the National Guard MI35 helicopter he was flying crashed on July 5, was buried today.

    The funeral was held at Saint Afxivios church in Astromeritis, in the presence of his family, friends, and representatives of the political, military and religious leadership of the island.

    Papasozomenos was killed when the Russian MI25 crashed in the Paphos area. Russian pilot and trainer Yuri Oleynik also died in the crash.

    Wing Commander Loizos Tsikouris, on behalf of the National Guard, Papasozomenos` sister, Kiki Papasozomenou, on behalf of his family, and Morphou Bishop Neophytos spoke at the funeral.

    Wreaths were laid by Minister of Defence Phivos Klokkaris on behalf of President Tassos Papadopoulos, National Guard Chief Lieutenant General Constantinos Bisbikas, Morphou Bishop Neophytos, MP Costas Papacostas on behalf of President of the House of Representatives Demetris Christofias, President of the Parliamentary Defence Committee Yiannakis Omirou, Kiki Papasozomenou on behalf of the family, and a representative of the Russian Embassy.

    Cypriot tennis player Marcos Baghdatis lost today to world`s number two Rafael Nadal in Wimbledon Men`s Singles Semi Final matches.

    He was beaten 6-1 7-5 6-3
