Responding to questions about a visit by Congressional staffers to occupied Cyprus, Ereli said ''we consider the visit as an unofficial staff delegation wanting to go to Northern Cyprus and that it's perfectly appropriate for them to do so if they want.'' The report also says that during 2004, 4.297 vessels arrived at the various ports of Cyprus compared to 4.375 in 2003. According to AFP, in a speech delivered in Hamburg, Rehn also stressed the importance of Ankara's recognition of Cyprus, adding that he was ''reasonably confident'' that EU Turkey accession talks would start as scheduled on October 3.
