Mayor of the Turkish occupied town Famagusta Yiannakis Skordis told a press conference today that during Saturdays march, the people of Famagusta will declare their demand for a return of their homeland and a revival of the occupied towns and villages of Cyprus. He said Saturdays march will be entitled Solution Reunification Peace and will take place at 2000 local time and will include a march to the Dherynia checkpoint and an event at the Famagusta Cultural centre. In another development, Greece said that the non-recognition of the Republic of Cyprus, an EU member state, by Turkey, is a European absurdity. Commission Spokesman Amadeu Altafaj said that with the signing of the protocol by Turkey whereby it extended its customs union agreement with the EU to all new EU member states including Cyprus, Ankara recognises that the EU is made up of 25 member states.
