Jerusalem, May 16 (CNA) -- Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom has reassured the government of Cyprus that his country does not encourage investment in Greek Cypriot properties in the Turkish occupied area of the island, adding that he would issue a travel advisory on the matter on the Ministry's official site.

Cyprus Foreign Minster George Iacovou, in Israel for an official visit, told CNA after a working lunch here with Shalom, that his Israeli counterpart underlined that his country does not encourage investment in occupied Cyprus but as a democratic country it cannot prohibit its citizens from doing so.

Cyprus President:No conditions, no restrictions for new talks

Larnaca, May 16 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos has said that there should be no conditions, no restrictions and no other predetermined issues during a new round of Cyprus talks, stressing that ''no talks will start if the prerequisites for success are not there''.

Papadopoulos said the meetings of his emissary to the UN Ambassador Tasos Tzionis beginning today would cover both procedural and substantial issues relating to negotiations, if these are to resume.

Speaking to the press yesterday prior to his departure for Warsaw, Poland, to attend the Third Summit of the Council of Europe, Papadopoulos said ''we have undertaken the commitment to keep these consultations confidential, to the extent possible.''
