Almunia will be received by Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos and hold separate meetings with President of the House of Representatives Demetris Christofias, Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos, Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus Christodoulos Christodoulou as well as with members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee. ''The Greek government aims to reach a functional and viable settlement after negotiations, on the basis of UN Security Council decisions, the Annan plan and the EU principles'', Karamanlis stressed during a speech at the Greek Parliament. ''Our aim is to achieve a functional solution. A solution that is not functional will not be viable either. A non - viable solution is no solution. For this reason we are in constant contact and close cooperation with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the government and the political leadership of Cyprus'' he said. ''The port of Famagusta is illegal, so no goods can be imported through it'' Cyprus President said, adding that such an action violates the EU Green Line Regulation.
