Cypriot Commerce Minister in Tatarstan to promote cooperation

Nicosia, Mar 22 (CNA) -- Cypriot Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister George Lillikas is in Tatarstan for a three-day visit at the invitation of the country's Commerce Minister Hafiz Salikhov.

An official statement said here today that Lillikas' visit aims at promoting economic cooperation between Tatarstan and Cyprus in the fields of energy and investments as well as other issues of common interest. The visit will culminate with the signing of an agreement between the two countries.

Lillikas, who arrived in Tatarstan on Sunday, is escorted by the Ministrys Energy Agency Deputy Director and the Executive Director of the Cyprus Electricity Authority.

Brussels, Mar 22 (CNA) -- The question of Cyprus and Turkeys obligation to sign a protocol to its customs union agreement with the European Union were the focus of a meeting here today between Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos and Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis, diplomatic sources have said.

Brussels, Mar 22 (CNA) -- Turkey's obligation to sign a protocol to its customs union agreement with the European Union, extending the accord to all ten new members including Cyprus, is at the core of discussions held among interested parties, according to Greek diplomatic sources.
