Brussels, Sep 27 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos begins Monday a three-day working visit to Belgium at the invitation of the Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt.

Weather forecast for Cyprus

Nicosia, Sep 27 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

Tuesday and Wednesday 28/9/2004 to 29/9/2004 ------------------------------------------- The weather will be fine and mostly clear, but rather hot for the period. Local mist and low cloud are likely overnight and mainly towards dawn. Risk of isolated fog patches mainly inland. Gentle to moderate sea breezes will prevail during the day, while light to gentle northwesterly to northeasterly winds will be blowing overnight. The state of sea will be generally slight in the afternoons, but smooth to slight at all other times. Maximum temperature 35-36C inland, 31-32C over the east and south coasts, 29-30C over the west and northwest coasts and 26-27C over Prodromos. Minimum temperature 16-17C inland, 18-19C over the coasts and 15-16C over Prodromos.

Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 30/9/2004 to 01/10/2004 ----------------------------------------------------- No significant change is expected.

EMP Matsis calls for amendment of regulation for Turkish Cypriots

Nicosia, Sep 27 (CNA) Cypriot Member of the European Parliament Yiannakis Matsis called for an amendment to the Commission regulation for financial assistance to Turkish Cypriots, providing for part of the funds to be used for the restoration and conservation of Christian churches, cemeteries and Moslem mosques in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus.
