    National Council examines Commission regulations for T/C

    Nicosia, Jul 13 (CNA) The National Council convened here today under Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos and discussed the Cyprus problem and a proposal by the European Commission for direct trade with the Turkish occupied north of the island.

    Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides speaking after the three - hour meeting of the top advisory body to the President on handling the Cyprus issue said President Papadopoulos extensively informed Council members on the deliberations at the EU and the proposed Commission regulations, on the Commissions views and our positions and counterproposals as well as developments that are likely to follow.

    He added that President Papadopoulos also briefed the members on the latest developments on the Cyprus issue and analysed the problems prospects.
