The Cyprus question will also be discussed by the UN chief with US Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice. Meanhwile, State Department's Spokesman Richard Boucher said Powell ''spoke on Sunday with Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos and the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan last week, on the subject of Cyprus''. ''So this is something that remains very important to us, to the Secretary as well, and something that we continue to work'', said Boucher adding that he expects the issue to come up again in the discussions with the UN SG who will be in Washington today for meetings. A UN spokesman said Monday in New York Annan will hold meetings at the White House, the State Department and the Congress on the Cyprus issue, the situation in Iraq and other issues that concern the international organisation. He added that the Secretary General will meet the Secretary of State at 1030 (local time), at 1200 the US President George Bush and at 1500 the National Security Advisor Contoleezza Rice. He will conclude his meeting with the leadership of the Republicans and the Democrats.
