Nicosia, Jan 5 (CNA) -- A delegation from the Cyprus Environmentalist Party has started work in the Gaza Strip with a view to create a ''Cyprus park'' and already the first 200 trees have been planted.

Nicosia, Jan 5 (CNA) - Cypriot House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias leaves tomorrow for Canada where he will attend a Conference of the House Presidents of Commonwealth member states.

Weather forecast for Cyprus

Nicosia, Jan 5 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

On Tuesday (January 6) the weather will be cloudy at times with rain or thunderstorms, as well as snow on Troodos. On Wednesday (January 7) the weather will be partially cloudy with sleet and snow over hilly areas.

Winds will be westerly to southwesterly, fresh to strong, and locally near gale, turning westerly to northwesterly later on, over rough to very rough seas.

Temperatures on Tuesday will reach a maximum of 15 degrees Centigrade inland, 17 along the coast and 5 over the mountains, dropping to a minimum of 7 degrees inland, 10 along the coast and 2 over the mountains.

Maximum temperatures on Wednesday will reach 8 degrees Centigrade inland, 11 along the coast and -3 over the mountains, with a minimum of 0 degrees inland, 4 along the coast and -6 over the mountains.

On Thursday (January 8) and Friday (January 9), the weather will be partially cloudy at times with isolated showers and snow on the mountains and hills. A slight increase in temperatures is expected.

President Bush sends letter to Cyprus President

Nicosia, Jan 5 (CNA) -- US President George Bush has sent a letter to President Tassos Papadopoulos which refers to the question of Cyprus, Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides announced here today after a three-hour long meeting of the National Council.
