Christofias hopes Turkey to seize opportunity for Cyprus
Nicosia, Jan 4 (CNA) - Leftwing party AKEL General Secretary Demetris
Christofias expressed hope that Turkey would seize the opportunity
offered to solve the Cyprus question by May 1st, when Cyprus officially
becomes a full member of the EU.
Addressing the party's youth organisation (EDON) 14th Congress,
Christofias reiterated the Greek Cypriot side's declared readiness to
proceed to UN-led talks aiming at solving the Cyprus question whenever
UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan calls for negotiations.
