The Cypriot President was speaking to the press on his return last night from Greece, where he held talks with Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis. Invited to comment on Annan's reference in the UN chief's annual report to the UN General Assembly on the work of the United Nations, that he would resume active efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem provided that the parties concerned would demonstrate their commitment to a settlement based on his peace plan, Papadopoulos said ''this is the same statement included in his (the SG's) Report on Cyprus to the UN Security Council. This was his stable position in The Hague and in the Report he submitted to the Security Council. The same wording,'' he added.
