    Cyprus-Russian agreements compatible with acquis communautaire

    Nicosia, Sept 1 (CNA) The legal framework of the bilateral agreements between Cyprus and Russia is compatible with the acquis communautaire and does not need to be revised or revoked in view of the island's accession to the EU, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Chizov said here today.

WIND: Southwest to West, gentle to moderate, 3 to 4 BF during day, mainly northwest, light to gentle 2 to 3 BF overnight. SEA STATE: Slight TEMPERATURE: Vary between 22 to 38 C inland, 22 to 34 over South cost, 22 to 31 C over West cost and 22 to 29 C over the mountains.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 04/09/2003 to 05/09/2003

    Cloud will increase and some showers or an isolated thunderstorm are expected to occur in the afternoon.

    Nicosia, Sep 1 (CNA) Syrias President Bashar Al-Assad assured of his firm support to the Cyprus cause as well as his countrys unlimited collaboration at international fora during a meeting here Monday with Foreign Affairs Minister, Giorgios Iacovou.

    The Cypriot minister is on an official visit to Syria at the invitation of Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara.

    During the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, President Al-Assad expressed delight over the visit and referred to the traditionally and close bonds of friendship between the two countries and peoples, an official statement said here Monday.
