    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Jul 7 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    On Tuesday (July 8) the weather will be mainly fine, with local clouds forming mainly over the mountains in the afternoon, possibly yielding isolated showers.

    Winds will be variable light 3 beaufort in the morning, gradually becoming moderate southwesterly to westerly 4 beaufort later in the day, over slight to moderate seas.

    Temperatures will vary between 21 and 35 degrees Centigrade inland, 21 and 31 along the south coast, 21 and 29 along the west coast and 18 to 27 degrees over the mountains.

    On Wednesday (July 9) the weather will be mainly fine with local clouds mainly over the mountains.

    Winds will be southwesterly to westerly, light to moderate, over slight to moderate seas.

    Temperatures will gradually rise about 2 or 3 degrees.

    On Thursday (July 10) the weather will be mainly fine with a small increase in temperatures.

    On Friday (July 11) the weather will be mainly fine with no significant change in temperatures.

    Strasbourg, Jul 7 (CNA) - The window of opportunity for a solution to the Cyprus problem has not closed, Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Walter Schwimmer said here today, noting that the window ''has been opened wider'' with the easing by the Turkish occupation regime of restrictions on the free movement of persons on the island.

    Nicosia, Jul 7 (CNA) -- The importance of finding a solution to the Cyprus problem before the island's full accession to the European Union in May 2004 was stressed during the opening of a Euro-Mediterranean Seminar in Nicosia, organised by the bicommunal youth group ''Youth Promoting Peace'', under the title ''Finding Common Ground: Conflict resolution and mediation through focusing on the environment''.
