Greek Merchant Marine Minister arrives in Cyprus tomorrow

Nicosia, Jul 29 (CNA) -- Greek Minister of Merchant Marine Georgios Anomeritis arrivers in Cyprus tomorrow for a two-day visit, to attend the signing of the agreement between Cyprus and Greece on matters of Merchant Shipping.

KISOS renamed KS EDEK by constitutional congress

Nicosia, Jun 29 (CNA) - The constitutional congress of the Movement of Social Democrats (KISOS) decided today on a set of changes to its Articles, including renaming the Movement to Movement of Social Democrats EDEK (KS EDEK).

The congress also approved a proposal by KISOS honorary President Vassos Lyssarides to assign the task of changing the Movement's emblem to a graphic designer, so that the red rose of KISOS is combined with the fist of EDEK.

Minister says illegal immigration mostly from occupied areas

Nicosia, Jun 29 (CNA) - Minister of Justice and Public Order Doros Theodorou said today that the most serious problem faced by Cyprus in immigration issues had its roots in the Turkish occupied areas of the Republic, noting that only 20% of illegal immigrants enter the island from the sea.

Replying to questions, Theodorou said that the number of illegal immigrants that arrive on the island's coasts would drop significantly with the installation of coastal radar systems and with the vessels and helicopters that will patrol the sea.
