Verheugen to begin contacts in Cyprus Tuesday

Nicosia, Jun 15 (CNA) European Commissioner on Enlargement Gunter Verheugen arrives in Cyprus this evening for a three-day visit.

Verheugen launches his visit on Wednesday with separate meetings with President of the Republic Tassos Papadopoulos and House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias, followed by a meeting with Cyprus' Chief Negotiator with the EU Takis Hadjidemetriou.

Italian Parliament delegation arrives in Cyprus on Tuesday

Nicosia, Jun 16 (CNA) A delegation of the Joint European Affairs Committee of the Italian Parliament arrives in Cyprus on Tuesday for a three-day official visit.

The delegation is made up of the chairmen of the European Affairs Committees at the Senate and Chamber of Deputies, five senators and two deputies.

An official statement said that the Italian delegation will be received by President of the Republic, Tassos Papadopoulos and will meet House President Demetris Christofias.

The Italian delegation will also meet chairman of the House European Affairs, Nicos Cleanthous and members of the committee, as well as President of the Cyprus chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vassilis Rologis in the presence of members of the Cyprus-Italian Association of Business people.
