Iacovou in Luxembourg for General Affairs Council

Nicosia, Jun 15 (CNA) Foreign Affairs Minister George Iacovou will take part in the General Affairs and External Relations Council meeting to be held in Luxembourg from June 16-17.

Iacovou went to Luxembourg from the US where he completed on Saturday a series of meetings in New York and Washington, an official statement said here Sunday.

The Cypriot minister discussed the Cyprus problem with his counterpart, Secretary of State Colin Powell, US Vice President Dick Cheney, US National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, his Special Adviser on Cyprus, Alvaro de Soto.

Czech Deputies to visit Cyprus

Nicosia, Jun 15 (CNA) The Deputy Chairman and members of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic arrive on the island on Tuesday for a three -day working visit.

The delegation, chaired by Eduard Zeman, will meet House President, Demetris Christofias on Wednesday and chairman of the House Standing Committee on Education Affairs, Prodromos Prodromou.

The same day, the Czech delegation will meet Cyprus' Chief Negotiator with the EU Takis Hadjidemetriou, Rector of the University of Cyprus, Dr. Stavros Zenios and Mayor of Nicosia, Michalakis Zampelas

On Thursday the Czech deputies will meet Education and Culture Minister, Pefkios Georgiades. The delegation will depart on Friday.
