Cyprus hands symbolic amount to East Timor

Nicosia, Oct 12 (CNA) - Cyprus' Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Sotos Zackheos, handed the symbolic amount of ten thousand dollars to his counterpart from East Timor, Ambassador Jose Louis Guterres, to enhance the country's presence at the UN and as an expression of Cyprus' support to the recent entry of East Timor to the UN.

European Greens see momentum for Cyprus settlement

Nicosia, Oct 12 (CNA) -- The Federation of European Green Parties expects Cyprus to be one of the ten candidate countries to join the European Union in 2004, General Secretary of the Federation Arnold Cassola has said, after a meeting with President of the Republic Glafcos Clerides.

''We hope that this momentum will also help to bring about a long and lasting solution to the Cyprus issue'', Cassola noted, adding that the European Greens ''have always pressed for Cyprus to be one of the new members''

KEVE President reelected on Eurochambres board

Nicosia, Oct 12 (CNA) - President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE) Vassilis Rologis has been reelected member of the board of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Eurochambres), during its meeting in Antwerp, Belgium, which was wrapped up yesterday.

Rologis told CNA that his reelection is an honour both for himself and Cyprus in general.

"We are close to developments and in the decision-making group, and thus we can help the Republic of Cyprus", he assured.
