The Cyprus Federation of America, the International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA) and the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), in cooperation with federations and community organisations, have announced that the events will be held from July 1 - 21. These include two gatherings in Astoria, a summer stage at New York Central Park by two Greek singers and memorial services for the victims of the coup d' etat of June 15, 1974, by the Greek Junta, and the victims of the Turkish invasion and occupation as well as for the first president of Cyprus Archbishop Makarios III. The services will be held at the Cathedral of Holy Trinity in Manhattan. Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, Archbishop Demetrios will officiate. Members of the diplomatic corps of Greece and Cyprus as well as congressmen and local politicians will be invited to attend. A Cyprus Federation of America press release reads that e-mail messages can be sent to US President George Bush to the address President@WhiteHouse.gov. He reiterated that a solution must be based on a bizonal, bicommunal federation that should address the legitimate concerns of both sides.
