Christofias was addressing here this afternoon European Parliament President Pat Cox, during a special plenary session of the 56-seat Parliament, in the presence of Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides, ministers, other officials and foreign diplomats. Christofias reiterated Cyprus' adherence to European values and the vision of a united and strong Europe, which should never stop its effort to boost democratic principles through effective participation of its citizens. "Our message on this auspicious Day of Europe is that together we shall build the Europe of tomorrow, in the vanguard of efforts to create a better and a more peaceful world," Christofias said, noting that all Cypriots, Greek and Turkish Cypriots, look to Europe as "a beacon of civilisation."
