Cyprus once again in the world's athletic spotlight
Nicosia, Mar 28 (CNA) -- Cyprus will be once again in the world's
athletic spotlight from 18 to 21 April when the Cyprus Rally, which is
included in the World Championship for the third time, will take place
in the southern coastal town of Limassol.
Speaking at a press conference today, Clerk of the Course Takis
Kyriakides said the Cyprus Rally 2002 also celebrates this year its
30th anniversary and has received a total of sixty-six entries.
Replying to a question, Kyriakides referred to Turkey's unorthodox
methods to include its national Rally to the World Championship. He
said Turkey projects elements of Greek civilisation in the country as
its own and also uses other methods that could jeopardise Cyprus'
participation in the world championship.
