    Cyprus celebrates Greek independence

Nicosia, Mar 25 (CNA) - Cyprus held liturgies and celebrations, including parades, in all free areas of the Republic today, to commemorate the 25th of March 1821, when the Greek armed revolution officially began to free Greece from 400 years of Turkish occupation.

In a message, the Greek Ambassador in Nicosia said that although time was running out for a Cyprus settlement, the Turkish Cypriot side continued to maintain an unproductive stance.

The centre of the celebrations was Nicosia, where Archbishop Chrysostomos led a doxology and prayed for the return of all refugees to their homes in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus, for the determining of the fate of all missing persons and for the reunification of the island.
