Cyprus takes over SAR operations
Nicosia, Feb 12 (CNA) -- Cyprus Defence Minister Socratis Hasikos has
announced that as from 1 March 2002, Cyprus officially takes over
search and rescue operations (SAR) within the Nicosia FIR.

Cyprus aims to close deal on natural gas by September
Larnaca, Feb 12 (CNA) - Cyprus' Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister
Nicos Rolandis said today that by September the government will have to
close a deal on natural gas, to be used in 2006 when a fourth unit is
set up by the Cyprus Electricity Authority, adding that due to the
delay in constructing a pipeline from Egypt to Syria, Cyprus is also
investigating alternative solutions for providing liquefied natural
gas.
