Foreign Minister: A Clerides-Denktash meeting could take place

New York, Nov 17 (CNA) – Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides believes that
a meeting between the President of the Republic Glafcos Clerides and the
leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Rauf Denktash could very well be on
the cards, if the whole attempt falls within the framework of UN Security
Council resolutions, noting that under these circumstances the meeting
could signal the beginning of a dialogue.
In an interview with CNA on completion of his week long meetings here, the
minister said President Glafcos Clerides' response to Rauf Denktash's
proposal for a meeting is the "extra mile" the Greek Cypriot side was
asked to walk in the peace effort.|
