    [01] Cyprus Government - Allegations - Terrorism

Nicosia, Sep 16 (CNA) -- Cyprus Government's Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou has denied categorically allegations that Cyprus is involved in international terrorism, and stressed that the country "firmly stands on the side of the forces that fight against terrorism in certain parts of the world."

Speaking to CNA, Papapetrou also noted that Cyprus "record in facing terrorism is and has always been absolutely clear". The Cypriot official was commenting Former NATO Supreme Commander General Wesley Clark's statements involving Cyprus in international terrorism matters.

[02] Presidential Commissioner - Cyprus problem

Nicosia, Sep 16 (CNA) -- Cyprus Presidential Commissioner Manolis Christofides has said that the Greek Cypriot side wants a just solution of the Cyprus problem and has the political will to proceed to the peace talks in view to reach a settlement.

Speaking before overseas Cypriots in Toronto, Canada, Christofides noted that the Turkish side's intransigence was still hindering progress in the Cyprus problem and noted that UN resolutions on Cyprus and High Level Agreements of 1977 and 1979, providing for a bicommunal, bizonal federation, consist the "common ground" for a negotiated settlement of the Cyprus problem.
