0920:CYPPRESS:01[01] Cyprus - US - Attacks - Day of mourningNicosia, Sep 14 (CNA) -- Cyprus participates today in the day of mourning declared by the European Union for the victims of the terrorist attacks against the United States.Flags at government buildings were flying half mast. At midday air raid sirens will wail. A three-minute silence will be observed in the memory of those killed during the attacks. Meanwhile, the book of condolences opened two days ago at the American Embassy in Nicosia, in memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks, will continue will be opened until 16:00 hours local time today. Cypriot high ranking officials and ordinary people have signed the book. Many Cypriots have laid flowers at the US embassy. As Alvaro de Soto had told CNA, after his return to New York on Monday, yesterday was his first day at work to try and catch up with what is happening.
