    [01] Cyprus - Greece - Satellite

    Nicosia, Aug 22 (CNA) -- Cyprus Communications and Works Minister Averof Neophytou was due to leave today for Athens, where he will meet his Greek counterpart Christos Verelis to discuss details of a planned joint venture between the two countries and a consortium of companies aimed at launching a telecommunications satellite by 2002.

    Speaking today to the press, Neophytou said there are "no commitments" from Cyprus' side as regards the joint venture, adding that during his stay in Athens, no signing of any agreement will take place if the Cyprus Republic's demands were not met." CNA/NMA/RM/GP/2001

    Nicosia, Aug 22 (CNA) -- Cyprus and China signed in Beijing today an agreement of cooperation in the field of sports.

    According to an official press release, the agreement was signed by visiting Cyprus Sports Organisation President Andreas Papacharalambous and China's Minister of State of Physical Culture and Sports Commission, Li Zhijian.
