Nicosia, Aug 9 (CNA) -- Consultations between the Cyprus government and the
British Bases on the latter's intention to install a huge antenna at the
Akrotiri area, west of the coastal town of Limassol, were still underway,
Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou told his daily briefing, adding
that that both sides wish to reach a solution to the whole issue.
Papapetrou said efforts being made aim at finding "a solution to the issue
based on specific principles, that ensure the issues pursuit by our side",
pointing out the position set out by the Cyprus government during
negotiations was that certain procedures should be followed in order to
find out whether or not such installation would affect the residents'
health and have an impact on the environment.
