[03] Cyprus - National Institution - Human Rights
Íicosia, Jul 13 (CNA) -- Cyprus National Institution for the Protection of
Human Rights urges the public to report acts of racial discrimination to
the appropriate authorities or refer them to the Institution for guidance.
According to a press release issued today by the Institution, the provision
of Law, by virtue of which the Convention for the Elimination of all form
of Racial discrimination has been ratified provides that "it is an offence
for any person to commit an act which is likely to promote discrimination,
hatred or violence against any person by reason of ethnic or racial descent
or religion".

[04] Cyprus - Cruise liners - Genoa - G8 Summit
Nicosia, Jul 13 (CNA) -- Eight deluxe Cypriot - owned cruise liners will
accommodate some of the participants in the G-8 Summit to be held in July
20, in Genoa, Italy.
Cyprus "Louis Cruise Lines" marketing manager George Michaelides told CNA
that seven out of 20 ships to accommodate some of the industrialized
world's participants in the Summit are owned by Louis. "Atalante" owned by
"Paradise Cruises" is the eighth ship to be used for the same purpose.

[05] UN - Conference - Illicit trade in arms - Cyprus
Nicosia, Jul 13 (CNA) -- The Illicit trade in small arms and light weapons
is a constant threat to the global peace and security, Permanent
Representative of Cyprus to the UN Sotos Zakheos said yesterday.
In his address to the UN Conference on "Illicit trade in small arms and
light weapons in all its aspects", taking place in New York, Zakheos said
Cyprus fully supports the elements of the Programme of Action against
illicit trade in small arms and light weapon, submitted by the European
Union and will play its role in the consultations for its final
preparation.
