CNA/RM/GP/2001 ENDS, CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY1445:CYPPRESS:06[06] Cyprus - Ramsar ConventionNicosia, Jul 13 (CNA) -- Cyprus' Permanent Mission to UNESCO submitted yesterday the document for the accession of Cyprus to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, which was signed in 1971 in Iran and provides the framework for national and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.An official press release issued here said Cyprus had indicated the salt- lake of the coastal town of Larnaca as a wetland that could be included in the list of wetlands of International Importance.
