[01] Presidents of Cyprus and Kenya - State banquet
Nicosia, Jun 8 (CNA) - Non acceptance of faits accomplis created by the use
of force and sustained by military might, is a position which transcends
Cyprus, President Glafcos Clerides said last night, pointing out that
repeated attempts by the UN Secretary General for the solution of the
Cyprus problem failed to produce results because of the absence of
political will on the part of the Turkish side.
Speaking at a state banquet given in honour of Kenyan President Daniel Arap
Moi, who is in Cyprus for a four-day official visit, President Clerides
noted Kenya's support towards a solution of the Cyprus problem based on the
relevant UN resolutions, while Arap Moi reiterated his country's support
for a settlement of the problem as well as Kenya's wish for Cyprus'
accession to the European Union.
