[01] Australian UN veterans - Cyprus 1964 - 1974

sad now, said Mervin Beck, former UN peace-keeper who served in Cyprus
during the summer of 1974 when Turkish troops invaded the country and
occupied 37 per cent of its territory.
"I hope better days will come for the people of Cyprus," he told CNA during
a recent visit here, to reminisce with old friends the times when he served
on this eastern Meditarranean island as a chief superintendent and
commander of the 40-men strong Australian UN contingent.

[02] Cyprus - Yemen - Air transport agreement
Nicosia, May 16 (CNA) – Cyprus and Yemen initialed an air transport
agreement here Wednesday after two days of negotiations.
An official statement said the agreement outlines the framework of the
cooperation between the two countries in the field of air transport and is
expected to contribute to the development of relations in the economic and
tourist fields.
