    [01] Cyprus - Britain - Conservatives

    Nicosia, May 11 (CNA) -- A Conservative government would "use Britain's influence in the world for peace and stability whether in Kashmir or Cyprus or in the Middle East", British Conservative Party's manifesto states.

    According to the manifesto issued in the light of the upcoming elections in the country, the Conservatives point out that "the next conservative government will keep the pound and will maintain the national veto on European legislation". CNA/RM/GP/2001

    [02] Greek American leaders - Letter - Bush - Turkey - Cyprus

    Nicosia, May 11 (CNA) -- Greek American leaders, in a letter to US President George W. Bush and key US officials urged for US action following yesterday's ruling by the European Court of Human Rights, finding Turkey guilty of "massive violations" of human rights in Cyprus.

    Leaders of the National Coordinated Effort of Hellenes, Andrew A. Athens, Philip Christopher and Andrew E. Manatos, stress that "this profound ruling can be an opportunity to help NATO ally Turkey see more clearly the path it must take for EU membership".

    President Clerides - Chinese Ambassador

    Nicosia, May 11 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides today received Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cyprus Aiguo Song.

    Speaking after the Presidential Palace meeting, Ambassador Song said he discussed with teh President "the need for further strengthening bilateral relations between Cyprus and China, especially in the cultural field". CNA/RM/GP/2001
