[02] Consumer and Health Protection Commissioner - Visit - Cyprus
Nicosia, May 8 (CNA) - European Commissioner for Consumer and Health
Protection, David Byrne, will begin a series of meetings in Cyprus tomorrow,
intended to present the new policy initiatives the Commission has launched
with respect to food safety and public health.
A press release issued by the Delegation of the European Commission to
Cyprus said Byrne would confer with Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides and
Cyprus' Chief Negotiator in the accession talks with the European Union
George Vassiliou, to discuss general progress made on all issues under his
competence. Vassiliou and Byrne will hold a joint press conference
Wednesday afternoon.

[03] Cyprus - Credentials - Seychelles - Rwanda
Nicosia, May 8 (CNA) - The Presidents of Rwanda and Seychelles have
expressed their firm support to a peaceful settlement of the Cyprus problem,
based on UN resolutions.
Presidents France Albert Rene êáé P. Kagame, of Rwanda and Seychelles
respectively, made the statements while receiving the credentials of
Cyprus' High Commissioner to Kenya, Michalis Stavrinos during ceremonies in
the two countries.
