0950:CYPPRESS:01[01] European Commission - Enlargement - Movement of workersBrussels, Apr 12 (CNA) -- The European Commission has agreed to propose transitional arrangements to phase in full rights to free movement of workers for new member states, except Cyprus and Malta.The proposal envisages a general transition of period of five years with a possible extension by individual member-states for a further two years and aims to meet concerns where they arise and where they are justified, while allowing for mobility of workers. CNA/GP/2001 1330:CYPPRESS:05[05] UNFICYP - Austrian contingentNicosia, Apr 12 (CNA) -- The Austrian contingent of the UN peace-keeping force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) will leave by end of August, having served here for the past 38 years, UN acting spokesman Charles Gaulkin has said."The departure of the peace-keepers will take place in stages, starting in June and concluding in August," he told CNA, adding that Slovak peace- keepers will replace the outgoing Austrians.
