    [03] Foreign Ministers - Cyprus - Austria

Nicosia, Apr 11 (CNA) -- Austria hopes that a solution of the Cyprus question can be found within the UN framework, Austrian Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Benita Ferrero Waldner said here today, adding that Vienna would back Cyprus' accession to the European Union, even without a political settlement, as prescribed by the EU Helsinki decisions.

Speaking at a joint press conference with her Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides, she called on Turkey to introduce the changes needed with respect to its accession process, noting that Austria will not base its policies on threats from Ankara regarding Cyprus' EU membership.
