    [02] President Clerides - European Court of Auditors delegation

    Nicosia, Apr 3 (CNA) - The Auditor General's Office of the Cyprus Republic meets the criteria set for the countries wishing to accede to the European Union, Auditor General Chrystalla Georghadji has said.

    Georghadji was speaking after a meeting a European Court of Auditors (ECA) delegation, headed by its President Jan Karlsson, had here today with President Glafcos Clerides. talks with the EU in 1998.

    [03] Pope - Cyprus

    Nicosia, Apr 3 (CNA) -- A representative of the Holy See today announced at the Vatican that for the time being it is "technically impossible" for Pope John Paul II to visit Cyprus.

    Ambassador of the Cyprus to the Holy See, Christos Psilogenis, had extended Friday an official invitation from President Glafcos Clerides to the Pope to visit the island during his trip to Athens, Syria and Malta next month to trace the steps of Apostle Paul, who preached Christianity in Cyprus.
