Nicosia, Mar 10 (CNA) -- The news agencies of Cyprus and Iran (CNA and
IRNA) are located in two strategically important regions in the world and
can play a major role in promoting relations between the two countries, in
particular, and in the whole region, in general.
This was said here last night by IRNA President and Managing Director Dr
Fereydoun Verdinejad, who heads a three-member IRNA delegation visiting
Cyprus at the invitation of the Cyprus News Agency. The delegation also
comprises IRNA Director General of International News and Cooperation
Shapour Jomeh-Farsangi and IRNA Director of International Relations Touraj
Shiralilou.

[02] Cyprus - Foot and Mouth disease - Prevention
Nicosia, Mar 10 (CNA) -- Government officials, UN and British
representatives met here Friday to discuss ways to minimise the risk of the
possible spread to Cyprus of the foot and mouth disease.
An official statement said yesterday's meeting, convened at the initiative
of the Foreign Ministry, agreed on the need for continuous consultations
between the government's veterinary department and officers of the
veterinary services of the British Bases as well as the UN to avoid the
possibility of seeing the disease spreading to Cyprus.

[03] Cyprus Airways - More flights
Nicosia, Mar 10 (CNA) -- Cyprus Airways is introducing two new destinations
in its routes, Budapest and Warsaw, and will increase its flights to Athens
to four per week and have daily flights to Salonica (northern Greece) and
Paris.
A company press release said that the new summer programme, which comes
into effect on 25 March until 27 October, said Cyprus Airways will fly to a
total of 32 destinations, including Amman, Corfu, Geneva, Frankfurt, Beirut,
Rhodes, London, Rome, Tel Aviv, Vienna, Dubai, Jeddah and Brussels.
