[04] Greek - Turkish Cypriot trade unions

Nicosia, Feb 21 (CNA) -- Two trade unions, a Greek Cypriot and a Turkish Cypriot, demanded here today a continuation of the peace talks for a solution of the Cyprus problem which will reunite the country in a bizonal, bicommunal federation as stipulated by UN decisions.

Greek Cypriot PEO and Turkish Cypriot DEV-IS said in a joint communique, issued after their meeting, that the prevailing situation in the northern part of the island (occupied by Turkish troops since 1974) does not serve the interests of the Turkish Cypriots and added that the answer to the problems created lies in a solution of the Cyprus question.
