    [01] Defence lawyer set free

Nicosia, Feb 16 (CNA) - A lawyer, who was jailed for five days on Wednesday by the Assize Court for contempt of court, was set free this morning so that he does not stay in prison until Monday.

The Cyprus Bar Association has strongly opposed the Assize Court decision against lawyer Michalakis Kyprianou and is demanding a change in the law so that in such cases contempt of court is not tried by the same court in which the incident occured.
